This TikTok video ranks how drunk you’re allowed to be at certain events
We’ve all had a blunder at some point or another when we’ve got a little too tipsy when we probably shouldn’t have.
And on the other end of the scale, there’s those boring events where a few glasses of vino could really liven things up a bit.
Well, according to TikToker Eli Rallo, ‘there is an unspoken yet universally understood scale for how intoxicated you’re allowed to be at life events and holidays’.
We’re all ears.
The TikToker and writer listed the different life events with a number out of 10 of how drunk it’s acceptable to be.
Eli said: ‘The scale goes from one (tipsy) to ten (obliterated).’
She kicked off the list with being on a plane, where she said it was acceptable to be a level six drunk.
If you’ve ever had a Bloody Mary in the sky, you’ll be in total agreement with this one – especially if the drinks are free. But obviously there’s a level of decorum that must be maintained. Firstly, the people around you can’t escape and secondly, if there’s an emergency situation, you need to have your wits about you to get into the brace position.
Eli also had a lot to say on wedding etiquette when it comes to drinking.
If you’re a guest can reach the dizzying heights of a level ten and get totally obliterated.
At your own wedding however, being a totally hammered bride is not recommended – this time, level seven is the optimum number. The same goes for if you’re one of the wedding party.
She added: ‘Even if the bride and groom don’t get to a seven you’re still allowed to be at a seven.
‘But you can’t be higher than a seven because you… can’t get too drunk that in the event that you needed to help with something, you couldn’t help.’
When it came to Christmas Eve, Eli said you can reach a ten and we wholeheartedly agree. What’s Christmas Day without a raging hangover?
If it’s your significant other’s birthday then you’re allowed to reach a five – this time you’re taking one for the team, as the birthday guy or girl has the right to get blackout drunk, and have you around to carry them home.
On a first date you can reach a three. Despite the temptation to drink more we guess this means you can guarantee a good first impression. But don’t worry, Eli did say you can get to level four on date number two.
On a boat apparently you can reach a six – which makes sense, given you want to minimise your chances of going overboard.
Any public holiday from May to August you can reach a ten, unless you’re the host then seven.
On a beach was ranked eight, while being at home by yourself on a Friday night was ranked a measly five.
Meeting your significant other’s parents is a solid two – crucial for making a good first impression.
Hosting a dinner party means you can reach a level four while attending one means you can reach a seven.
The night you know you’re going to run into your ex was ranked a four – but this one was up for debate in the comments. Other users said you’d would need to be much higher than a level four to stomach that encounter.
And the event where you can be off the scale?
A girls night out was ranked a twelve and a half level drunk. Eli added: ‘A girls night out when you’re going to go home and bother a man afterwards who was waiting up for you is a 17’.
