This TikTok rival with 100 million downloads is shutting down; read the company’s message to users – Times of India

Social media app Tiki is shutting down. The company announced that it is closing down its operations effective June 28 in a note to its users on Twitter. Users will not be able to watch or create short videos or watch streams on Tiki after 11:59pm IST on June 27, it said. The app will also not be available for download from app stores. In the note, Tiki has asked users to “download any videos that are dear to you”. The app won’t be able to provide any assistance or support after the shutdown date, it said.
Tiki has more than 100 million downloads on Google Play Store. It is ranked among the top 30 grossing apps on the Play Store in India and stands eighth among the top free social apps on the platform.
Here’s the note shared by the company on Twitter.
Dear Tiki Family,
We regret to inform you that Tiki will be shutting down its operations.
As of 11:59 PM India Time, June 27, 2023, all Tiki functions and services will cease. This means that you will no longer be able to watch or create your favorite short videos or live streams on Tiki, and the Tiki app will no longer be available for download from app stores. We want to inform you that all user data will be permanently deleted from our servers located in India and Singapore.
Before the shutdown date, we strongly encourage you to download any videos that are dear to you. Additionally, please remember to withdraw any T coins you may have before the 27th. You can withdraw them on your own in the app. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to provide any assistance or support after the shutdown date.
The recent challenges faced by the tech industry have led to the closure of numerous startups, including Tiki. Despite being a small startup operating in Singapore and India, Tiki has always stood for being A Place for Real Talents. We are immensely proud and grateful for the Tiki Family comprising creators and users like you.
We sincerely hope that the joyful moments you experienced on Tiki will remain cherished memories. Life is a journey, and we are grateful that we could appreciate the scenery together along the way.
