NutriBullet Baby Steam + Blend
When the new Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend arrived at my house recently, my husband unboxed it. By the time I came home from my office that evening our kitchen was full of delicious smells, and our fridge was full of fresh, wholesome baby food purees. He and my 9-month-old daughter were giddy.
When I tried the just-released product from the famed, beloved blender company the next weekend, I realized what they already knew: The Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend is genuinely fun to use — and I say that as someone who finds the whole homemade baby food process to be incredibly exhausting.
The Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend isn’t my first go at making my own baby food. A few months ago, I tested the Beaba Babycook, a similar product that I found to be just OK.
By comparison, the Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend comes out on top.
What is the Nutribullet Baby Steam and Blend?
The new all-in-one baby food maker from the popular Nutribullet brand, the Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend is a complete baby food prep system.
You can use the Steam & Blend to do just what the name says: first steam or defrost any food that you want to turn into a puree, and then blend it into said puree.
You can also use each mode separately. For example, if you want to just make a smoothie, you can skip the steam step and just choose “blend.”

The Nutribullet Baby Steam + Blend combines the functionality of a cooking pot, steaming basket, and blender into one compact system, cutting down on mess, dishes, and oh-so-precious time.
The Steam & Blend has just a few pieces: the base with a water reservoir and motor, a work bowl, and a work lid. The work bowl has a blade inside which also comes with a holder, for safety, and a sealing ring. All of the pieces are easy to snap into place and high-quality.
You add the ingredients to the work bowl, snap the lid on, settle it into the machine by sliding a panel into “lock mode,” then add a small amount of water—usually less than a cup—before you turn the Steam & Blend to “auto” mode.
We used the included recipe book to make the following fresh healthful baby food for my daughter, who loved them all:
- Pureed oatmeal with fresh fruit and cinnamon
- Pureed mango
- Black bean spread
- Corn and spinach puree
What we like
It’s easy to use

The Nutribullet takes only 10 minutes to make tasty baby meals.
Unlike the Beaba Babycook, which had confusing pictures in place of modes, the Nutribullet offers clear, well-worded instructions for the different settings on the machine.
You can steam, blend, or choose auto mode and let the Nutribullet decide the best course of action for you. Simply plug the machine in, turn the dial to the appropriate mode, dump some water into the reservoir, and press power.
Quickly puree and store fresh baby food
Compared to the Beaba Babycook, which took more than 30 minutes to make a batch of purees, the Nutribullet took only 10 minutes to make tasty baby meals. And the bowl was larger, so we could batch cook more purees to store in the freezer.
The bowl is also made from clear plastic, so you can see the consistency of the puree and stop the machine when it has reached your desired level of chunkiness, which will change depending on your child’s age.

The Nutribullet Baby Steam can blend/pulse, or run the fully automated steam + blend cycle, with a simple turn of a dial.
The Nutribullet moves through all the phases of baby food making automatically, so you don’t have to step in to change the dial or check the process between diaper changes and toddler meltdowns.
You can use it for more than baby food
The blend setting can be used just like any blender or food processor, which serves double duty in your kitchen. In fact, I found myself thinking of all the ways I could use this device to steam vegetables for dinner, cook oatmeal, make chia seed pudding, and beyond.
All the parts are dishwasher safe
All of the Nutribullet’s parts (except the base) can be machine washed on the top rack. We washed the whole system four times during testing and found no issues with the integrity of the product.
What we don’t like
The blender is loud
Be warned that the transition between steam and blend is loud; when the blender turned on, it scared everyone in our house. This wasn’t a deal breaker, however, as the multifunctionality of the machine more than made up for this minor issue.

Overall, the Nutribullet Baby Steam & Blend turned out to be an incredibly pleasant surprise that’s well worth the purchase price.
I’m a busy mom and I love anything efficient; the Nutribullet makes preparing homemade baby food incredibly easy. Plus it’s genuinely fun to use, the included recipe book has creative puree ideas, and I could make pretty much anything using one, or both, of the settings.
