Or maybe you’ve been on a date with someone who just wasn’t giving you anything back in the conversation?
Well, according to one woman’s two-question dating policy, you should give them two strikes before they’re out.
The idea is that, as poster @isiletsgetbusy puts it, you give them two chances to ask you a question after you’ve asked one.
In a stitched video replying to another clip on the topic of ‘how men don’t know how to ask questions on dates’, the poster, who goes by Isi on Instagram, says: ‘The two-question policy is basically where you’re only allowed to ask someone two questions, and if they don’t ask you a question back, stop talking to them.’
Sounds simple enough. And with the clip earning over 38,000 likes so far, the internet seems to be into the idea too.
Isi goes on: ‘If you’re on a dating app and you ask someone a question, and they don’t say “what about you?”, you can ask them one more question.
‘And if they still don’t ask you a question back, stop talking to them. Stop talking to that man!
‘This applies to physical dates too. If you’re having dinner or drinks with someone and you’ve asked them two questions, and they haven’t asked you a question back, sit there in silence.
‘Don’t say a word, just sit there in silence. Make it awkward for that man.’
Brutal? Maybe. But effective? You’ll just have to put it to the test to find out.
The logic behind this rule is simple.
‘I feel like if you’re not asking someone questions about themselves, then you don’t like them, you’re not into them,’ Isi says.
‘It’s not hard to reciprocate. Just say “how about you?”‘
People in the comments are fans of the idea, with one person writing: ‘Yes! You’re trying to have a conversation, not an interview!’
Others think the rule should go even harder, with one commenter saying: ‘For me “what about you” doesn’t count because I need him to come up with a question of his own.’
