These three UK tourist spots have been named the most overpriced in the world
Not one, not two but three of the world’s most ‘overpriced’ tourist attractions are in the UK – and it’s bad news for Harry Potter fans.
The attraction that secured the top spot? The one and only Warner Bros Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter.
This is where fans of The Wizarding World can visit the iconic sets from the films for £53.50 per adult over 16, and £43 for kids.
If you want to travel from Central London to the tour on a branded double-decker bus, that’s £107.
And the costs don’t necessarily stop there. One commenter, who visited in July 2023, lamented how it cost ‘£40 for four or five digital photos and one print’, and asked ‘how do Warner Bros. justify the cost?’
She went on to call the £6.95 butter beer — a drink from the books — ‘essentially lemonade and whipped cream in a take-home plastic cup’.
‘I guess that’s the cost of magic,’ she added.
The research, conducted by SavingSpot, looked at global tourist attraction reviews on TripAdvisor and noted the number of times they used the word ‘expensive’.
Next up on the hit list was Windsor’s popular Legoland resort in second place, which has pre-bookable day tickets starting from £34 for kids over 90cm (those under 90cm go free).
Third place was given to the capital’s iconic London Eye, with pre-booking costs starting at £25.50 per adult.
But never fear. If you’d rather not empty your pockets on things to do in London, there’s a lot that you can do for free.
For example, the fascinating London Mithraeum or The Horniman Museum are both free of charge.
And of course, many of London’s museums, including the V&A, The Science Museum and The Natural History Museum are also all free to enter.
If you want to avoid the crowds, there’s also the Winnie The Pooh trail at Aldenham Country Park to get them nice and tired.
And for the hipsters among us, the neon haven God’s Own Junkyard is always worth a look in, whether you want to do some sign shopping or not.
