These are the least hygienic service stations in Britain
BRITAIN’S least hygienic motorway service stations have been revealed.
As part of the study, the restaurants with the lowest hygiene ratings have also been published.
The study, conducted by National Scrap Car, analysed food hygiene ratings at more than 70 different motorway service stations.
Burger King at Moto Frankley Motorway Service North, Subway at Charnock Richard services North and Burger King at Leigh Delamere Motorway Services were the worst of the bunch.
All three proved to be equally poorly rated with a hygiene score of just 2 out of 5.
The rest of the worst-restaurant list looks like this:
National Scrap Car also looked at reviews left for the service stations online and found those for the worst offenders often matched their score.
One visitor to the Frankley services Burger King stated: “Would give it zero if I could.
“I don’t know if it’s because they are understaffed or what but the place was dirty the food was burnt.
“The worst part is that I found a hair on my burger (which is not surprising since they aren’t wearing any hair nets.)”
As for the Burger King located in Leigh Delamere, one customer left this review: “I was quite unwell after eating at Burger King – the burger tasted a bit weird so I stopped eating it but I was quite sick that evening.”
According to the Foods Standards Agency, “A rating of 2 is given to organisations that score in the region of 35 and 40 points on an inspection.
“You can expect roughly this amount of points if there are questionable handling practices and outdated equipment.
“Receiving this rating means that there is still major room for improvement when it comes to your organisation’s food hygiene practices.”
