There is a lot of hype, but quality of India-Pak match not good: Sourav Ganguly

Ahmedabad will play host to the big-ticket One-Day International(ODI )World Cup group match between India and Pakistan on October 15. India have won 10 ODI matches compared to Pakistan’s four since 2010. Pakistan, however, famously beat India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.

“There is a lot of hype in this match but the quality has not been that good for a long time because India kept on winning one-sided. Pakistan probably defeated India for the first time in the T20 World Cup in Dubai,” Saurav Ganguly said on Star Sports. “India did not play well in that tournament (2021 T20 WC) but according to me, India vs Australia tends to be a better game in the World Cup because the quality is better,” Saurav Ganguly added.

Earlier, Sehwag said India are favourites to win their blockbuster clash against Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad because they can handle pressure comparatively better.

Sehwag said, “I feel that now India handles the pressure that is why they win whereas Pakistan have a burden that they haven’t won against India. In the 1990s, they were good at dealing with pressure but after 2000, India soak it better.

“If any player says that they don’t feel pressure, I don’t think it’s right. We used to say it too but at the end of the day, we know it’s an India versus Pakistan game and emotions run high,” he said.

Sehwag said players from countries like England and Australia tend to do well if the wickets are good but the same players struggle against spin.
