Jeffrey Dean Morgan has shared a behind-the-scenes snap from an upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off also starring Lauren Cohan.

The pair are reprising their roles as Maggie and Negan from the main post-apocalyptic zombie drama in The Walking Dead: Dead City.

In the black and white picture, posted on Jeffrey’s Instagram, the two stars cosy up to one another in their characters’ costumes.

The 56-year-old captioned the post: ‘Here we go folks. In between set ups on set of “dead city” I’ll say this… it feels like we making something special. And nobody I’d rather be doing this with than @laurencohan. We can’t wait to show you something… soon I think. Xxjd.’

Fans were losing their minds over the snap, with one writing excitedly: ‘AAA CRYING AND SCREAMING ALL THE SAME TIME.’

Another penned: ‘I can’t wait to see it!! I love the photo. I’m sure you guys are doing a wonderful job together ???????? and I’m happy about it. Thank you two for the great work you are doing ❤️ And the illusion that all the fans have is immense.’

‘Love you guys so much ❤️ i can’t wait!!!!,’ a third added.

The spin-off had been previously named Isle of the Dead before show bosses opted for the new title.

Revealing the news of the spin-ff earlier this year, AMC teased: ‘Isle of the Dead envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.

‘The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.’

Filming started in New Jersey earlier this summer, with the six-episode first season slated to launch in 2023.

The Walking Dead is available to stream on Disney+ and Amazon Prime.
