The unusual European theme park where guests ride farting animal rollercoasters
A BIZARRE European theme park has received attention online because of its unique rides, including a rollercoaster based on a farting dog.
With so many theme parks to visit throughout Europe, it takes a lot for one to stand out, but it turns out flatulent animals could be the key.
That theme has worked well for Bonbon Land in Denmark, home of the Hundeprutterutchenbane – better known as the “farting dog switchback”.
Apparently, the dog’s flatulence “adds extra speed to the ride”.
The rollercoaster was the first one to feature at the theme park, which opened 30 years ago in 1993.
Its juvenile sense of humour, as well as its title, both come from founder Michael Spangsberg, who originally made his money by selling sweets with similarly childish names.
In fact, dog fart (“hundeprutter”) flavour was one of his most popular, which inspired him to build a similarly-themed ride.
Since then, it has delighted and confused guests in equal measure, so much so that it was once voted the eighth best thing to visit in Denmark.
Two of those guests were theme park enthusiasts and Tiktokers Shawn and Charlotte Sanbrooke (@theme_park_worldwide), who visited the park last summer.
They shared a video called “This rollercoaster at BonBon Land in Denmark is themed around a farting dog”.
It shows the track, the dog-shaped coaster and the statue of a dog called Henry, complete with model poo, in the middle.
In the video, Shawn says: “We’re here at Bonbon Land in Denmark and yes, you’ve seen the title right, this roller coaster is themed to a dog that is farting.
“He’s called Henry. Just over there. There’s his little kennel and down here on the floor, some dog poo. You can see it just through there.
“There we go. Only in Denmark, folks. The dog fart rollercoaster – world famous. It’s brilliant.”
People were both baffled and amazed by the footage, with one saying: “Out of all the themes they had to choose a dog farting.”
Another wrote: “Omg I need to try this park.”
A third added: “This made me laugh so much.”
As if the farting dog wasn’t enough, there are other toilet-humour based rides, including a vomiting rat, a peeing ant and a defecating seagull.
There is also a dog fart playground for kids to enjoy and another play area called The Elephant’s Skid Marks.
Meanwhile, the beaver rafting ride is the longest rafting ride in the Nordic countries, at more than half a kilometre in length.
There’s also the mad turtle, the cobra tower, and the “swingarm” which Bonbon Land claim is Denmark’s “wildest pendulum ride”.
Entrance for adults ranges from 199-309DKK (£23-£36) with cheaper tickets available on certain days, with an advanced purchase.
Children less than 90cm tall get in for free. Season passes are available, as are concession prices.
Meanwhile, this strange UK theme park has introduced a brand new attraction for the summer.
And another UK theme park is challenging Disney with a huge new waterpark featuring infinity pools, beach and water slides.
