The ‘underrated’ European beach that’s like a cheap trip to the Caribbean
A BEACH in Europe has been described as both “underrated” and like a trip to the Caribbean for “a fraction of the cost”.
Discovering a beautiful beach with no one else around is a rare treat, particularly one that doesn’t require a long haul flight to get to.
One place you can find a stunning holiday spot is La Pelosa Beach in Stintino, Sardinia, Italy, although you might have to share it with at least a few others.
Sardinian Beaches describes it as a “true Sardinian oasis” due to “its shallow turquoise waters and white sands” and even compared it to beaches in the Caribbean.
However, because of that very reason, they admit that it can become busier than you might like during the summer months.
They said: “Unsurprisingly, the beach can get crowded during peak season in July and August, but if you find yourself in the area of Sassari or Porto Torres, Spiaggia La Pelosa it’s definitely worth a visit.
“For many Europeans, La Pelosa is a marvellous opportunity to experience a Caribbean-style beach at a fraction of the cost.”
People in particular love the sea at La Pelosa, which offers shades of blue unlike those seen at most other beaches.
It also has an ancient sixteenth-century watchtower on a small island in the middle of the water, creating a unique viewpoint.
Among those amazed by the beach is Tiktoker Giuseppe Chironi (@giuseppe_chironi) who shared some drone footage of the beach.
In the video the sea’s amazing turquoise and deep blue hues can really be seen, as can the watchtower in the background.
The footage has been seen more than 2.5 million times, with lots of people commenting on how beautiful it looks.
One wrote: “Sardinia is so underrated and incredible.”
Another said: “The sea is so beautiful.”
A third added: “I’ve been there and it was truly magical.”
Far from being underrated however, La Pelosa has a score of 4.5/5 from more than 10,800 reviews on TripAdvisor, making it pretty highly regarded.
One person said it was “probably the most beautiful beach” they have seen in their life.
Another wrote: “One of the best beaches in Italy. Never seen such wonderful and different blues of the sea.”
A night in Stintino will set you back around £22pp per night, while flights from the UK to the island can be found from £115 return.
However, if you’re excited enough about a visit to Sardinia, you might consider living there – with the island offering Brits £13,000 to move.
The island’s local government is prepared to spend £38 million on a project hoping to lure new residents.
However, there is a slight catch for those choosing to move to the Mediterranean island.
The offer is only open to people willing to move to certain areas of Sardinia – including regions with fewer than 3,000 residents.
Meanwhile, this hidden European beach has no crowds, but can only be reached by ladder.
And this is the country with the most award-winning beaches in Europe.
