The UK holiday parks that have gone into administration

TWO popular holiday parks in the UK have gone into administration.

Billing Aquadrome and Cogenhoe Mill resorts in Northamptonshire are now both up for sale.

Billing Aquadrome, a 235-acre leisure park with holiday homes, heated pool and funfair, revealed plans for a £30million renovation last year.

However, it has since been put up for sale along with the holiday park Cogenhoe Mill.

Guests have been told that bookings will continue to go ahead at the holiday parks.

Robert Bull, of RoyaleGroup who owns the parks, said: “As part of the recapitalisation process Billing Aquadrome has been placed into administration.

“While all staff continue to be employed and continue to operate the business as usual, the involvement of RoyaleLife and RoyaleResorts will be limited.”

The process was introduced with the “aim of installing 1,000 new bungalows across the UK” this year.

Administrators Daniel Smith and Oliver Haunch of Grant Thornton added to local media that how the sale will go ahead has not yet been decided.

They added: “These are income-generating caravan parks with exciting approvals for development of additional sites.”

“The sales team will continue to seek interest for the sale of caravans and the joint administrators, with the support of the secured creditors, are considering an applicable sales plan to generate additional interest and growth for the parks.”

It comes just days after theme park Camel Creek went into administration too.

The Cornwall attraction said the park will remain open, but those with future bookings will be contacted.

Kroll, the administrator called in, said they were working to secure the future of the theme park.

Mr Wiles, managing director of restructuring, told local media: “Camel Creek family theme Park will continue to operate as normal, with all future bookings fulfilled.

“With the support of Camel Creek’s lender, we will work to secure further investment and the long-term future of the park for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

The theme park first opened in 1989, with 40 rides across the 111 acres, and underwent a £3million revamp in 2019.
