Located on the edge of the River Blackwater, Youghal is a quaint town with a population of around 7,000 people.

The town has become a popular tourist destination since the mid 19th century due to its array of spectacular beaches and age old history.

And it boasts four different beaches – each with its own special magic.

Three of these spectacular beaches have been awarded blue fags – so if you fancy a dip in the sea, fear not, the Youghal waters are safe and clean.

Front Strand beach and Claycastle beach are most popular with visitors and locals alike – and we’re not surprised.

Both beaches are sheltered, with a promenade and steps leading onto the soft white sand.

A 400m wheelchair friendly boardwalk will also lead you to Claycastle beach – and if you’re just looking to sit back and take in the views, seating options are available on the boardwalk.

TEE TIME

For those interested in a day of sporting activities, Youghal has got you sorted.

The seaside town is home to one of the finest golf clubs in the country.

Youghal Golf Club offers some of the most spectacular views the region has to offer.

The course overlooks the beautiful Youghal Bay, with glorious views of the Atlantic Ocean.

And whether you’re an amateur or professional golf lover, the course has fun challenges for all to try their hand at.

SIGHTS TO SEE

Youghal town is steeped in ancient history and there’s plenty of sites to be discovered.

The Youghal Clock Gate Tower is one of the most iconic buildings in the town centre.

Soak in the history of the 700-year-old tower with a guided tour – where storytellers will journey through the clock tower and tell tales of the towers fascinating history.

Or why not take an extended tour around the famous Raleigh Quarter.
