The safest country for solo tourists is ‘truly a beautiful place’

Whether it’s a self-discovery adventure, a relaxing switch off or a mini city break, more and more tourists are travelling solo.

However, solo tourists will often have to take more precautions when they travel and may need to do a little more research.

According to the travel experts at Bounce, there are a few countries where solo tourists are safest.

This year’s safest destination is an “amazing place” but unfortunately for Britons, it’s quite a long flight from the UK.

However, several of the top 10 safest destinations are just a budget flight away from the UK’s major airports.

Japan was rated the safest country for solo travel with the lowest crime index score of all the surveyed countries.

It also has some incredible attractions. From bustling cities such as Tokyo and Osaka to natural beauty spots like Hokkaido, tourists will be spoilt for choice.

One of the country’s top-rated attractions, The Hakone Open Air Museum, is an amazing sculpture park with art from all over the world.

One tourist ‘Tina P’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “The number and quality of the sculptures is so great. This is truly a beautiful place.”

In Europe, the safest destination for solo travellers was Switzerland, which has a very low crime rate.

Slovenia and Croatia took second and third place on the list and could be combined into one longer trip.

The two countries have several incredible sights of natural beauty while tourists will find prices lower than in the UK.
