The Queen’s style is ‘bright and bold’ – how to recreate her ‘hero’ look

The Queen constantly turns heads with her outfits and accessories. Fashion expert Stephen Sheldon, from Luxury Legs spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how women can give their wardrobes the royal treatment.

Stephen said: “The Queen is famous for embracing colour.”

Whether it’s lime green at The Royal Windsor Cup in July or shocking pink at Balmoral in August, Her Royal Highness’ fashion is far from shy and retiring.

He added: “Very rarely seen in a monochrome outfit, she isn’t afraid to wear bright, bold hues anytime of the year.”

So, put those black and white outfits away this Autumn, and don some more colourful garments.

One of the reasons why the Queen is typically dressed in bright colours is so she is clearly visible to the public.

In the 2016 documentary The Queen at 90, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, explained why her mother-in-law dresses in such lavish, bold colours.

She said: “Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the Queen’s hat as she went passed.”

If Her Royal Highness was dressed head-to-toe in a more muted colour, people would be less inclined to notice her.

DON’T MISS

Make like the Queen and start statement dressing.

Stephen recommends that royal fans invest in a “chic, two-piece suit” – in a block colour, of course.

It is the Queen’s favoured style.

He said: “It is understated as an outfit, allowing your colour choice to take centre stage and be the hero of your look.”

Tights are extremely versatile: opt for sheer in the warmer months and opaque when temperatures drop.

The Queen reportedly has 12 wardrobe staff, including Angela Kelly who curates and designs her ensembles.

Angela designed the Queen’s pale yellow dress and matching hat that she wore to William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

Even though the Queen has a posse of fashion experts around her, non-royals can still emulate her look by themselves with Stephen’s tips.
