The new £2.3m Gruffalo attraction coming to a UK seaside town this spring
A NEW Gruffalo tourist attraction is opening on Blackpool’s seafront later this year.
The £2.3million attraction, which has been in the making for 18 months, will bring together six stories from the creators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
The Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse is an indoor play adventure where families can meet some of the famous characters.
From the deep dark wood in the Gruffalo to Princess Pearl’s castle in Zog, guests can play alongside the children’s book characters.
There will be seven distinct play zones including The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Zog, The Snail and the Whale, Room on the Broom and The Highway Rat.
As well as a toddler-friendly play area for children who are younger than three, there will also be areas suitable for children who are aged 10 and under.
The attraction has been developed in partnership with Merlin Entertainments, Magic Light and Blackpool Council.
Kate Shane, Regional Director for Merlin Entertainments, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring some of the UK’s best loved children’s characters to Blackpool.
“Blackpool is the UK’s number one family seaside resort and this latest partnership with a globally recognised brand will provide compelling new reasons for visitors to come to Blackpool.”
Alex Sanson who is the Senior Brand Manager at Magic Light Pictures added: “The Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse will be the first of its kind and we can’t wait to see this amazing space, full of play and adventure, come to life.”
The new attraction is set to open in May.
It will join Merlin Entertainment’s seven other attractions in Blackpool including The Blackpool Tower and SEA LIFE Blackpool.
It’s not the only new attraction coming to the UK this year.
A new Peter Rabbit attraction is opening in Covent Garden this Easter.
And a Disney attraction is coming to the UK – but it isn’t made for younger guests.
