The Mother’s Day flower stall at Waterloo is filled with Lego plants

If you’re looking for a less obvious Mother’s Day gift for next weekend then there’s a stall at Waterloo Station that’s selling Lego flowers.

It’s Mother’s Day next week, on March 19 (the UK date is different to the US, so didn’t get caught out), and that means another struggle to find something new and interesting to give your mum as a present.

Flowers are traditional but what isn’t is flowers made of Lego which, perhaps surprisingly, have become one of the most popular new lines in recent years.

The Lego Botanical range now encompasses multiple different plants and flowers, ranging from a pair of roses to a bonsai tree or orchid.

To advertise the range, Lego has set up a flower stall at Waterloo Station that shows off various sets from the range, interspersed amongst actual real flowers.

It’s already become something of a tourist attraction, not least because, from a distance, it’s hard to tell they’re not real. Although it’ll only be there for today: Thursday, March 9.

If you can’t make it to Waterloo though all Lego stores will be running a ‘Make & Take’ promotion this weekend, where you can go to the store and build your own custom plants and flowers.

You can find a list of the whole Botanicals range on the Lego website, which includes a number of sets that are £12 or less, with small bunches of Sunflowers, Roses, Daffodils, and Tulips.

The more complex sets including the Bonsai Tree, Orchid, a Flower Bouquet, and a customisable display of Succulents – all of which cost £45 each.

The most expensive set is the Bird of Paradise, which comes with its own brick-built vase and costs £90.

The two newest sets are the Dried Flower Centrepiece for £45 and the Wildflower Bouquet for £55.
