The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom New Defogger Mod Improves Visuals Considerably

A new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom mod released online earlier today introduces considerable visual improvements by removing the fog that permeates Hyrule for much better clarity.

Sefrost’s Defogger attempts to remove most of the fog in the game while keeping the distant fog intact so as to preserve the game’s atmosphere natively and not via a ReShade preset like the other defogger mods released so far. This mod is also compatible with any version of the game, from the very first one to the current latest 1.1.2.

The six comparison screenshots that were shared alongside the new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom highlight how much of a difference the new defogger makes, granting way more clarity to visuals under different lighting. You can find them alongside the mod on Game Banana.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Serfrost’s Defogger mod is only one of the many mods released for the latest entry in the series by Nintendo since its launch earlier this month. Among the absolute best are mods that introduce quality-of-life improvements and enhance performance, such as the Dynamic FPS mod, whose latest version also addresses some cutscene issues.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide. Learn more about the game by checking out Nathan’s review.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sticks closely to the blueprint established by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it’s a richer, more rewarding game in most ways that count, offering a more intricate world, versatile suite of abilities, epic story, and satisfying dungeons. The familiarity of this Hyrule and a handful of frustrating sections keep Tears of the Kingdom from feeling quite as surprising and magical as its predecessor, but make no mistake, the wait has been worth it. While it probably behooves Nintendo to carve out an entirely new Legend next, Link’s latest should fill most fans’ heart meters nicely in the meantime.
