The Last of Us Season 2 Teased by Craig Mazin

The Last of Us Season 1 was an absolute success as Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie managed to win all our hearts and the adaption overall was top-notch thanks to showrunners, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

Now all the fans are waiting for season 2 and speculating what to expect from the upcoming season. However, they can rest easy as the series’ showrunner has specified to the fans that the series “should be around for a while” after season 2.

The cast recently reunited for a Last of Us panel at the FYC event hosted by HBOMax. At the event we saw integral cast members such as Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna and Murray Bartlett reconnect with showrunners, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and executive producer, Carolyn Strauss on stage.

Excitingly, Craig Mazin had something intriguing to share about The Last of Us season 2. In conversation with Deadline, Mazin stated that co-showrunner, Neil, and him are “pretty much in agreement” about keeping things the same in terms of their process. He went on to speak about how their process made the adaptation much more authentic to the source material and how Neil and him have gelled well throughout the process.

Mazin then spoke about the team pushing themselves in “all sorts of ways,” especially the actors. That is because as time passes, the actors start ageing and physical changes start appearing in their body, which could impact their movement and depiction of fighting.

Mazin then went on to ask, “what happens as the world gets more and more physical and dangerous?” This question has made many fans feel that The Last of Us Season 2 will have a much more harsh environment than Season 1 and the harshness will just be levelled up as each season passes. At the moment, fans will just have to be patient and see what The Last of Us showrunners have in store for us for in Season 2.
