The Last of Us Episode 5 to Air This Friday Due to the Super Bowl

Following the exciting Episode 4 of The Last of Us, which aired last night, it’s safe to say that the show has fans hooked on to it.

However, due to the weekly release schedule, each episode ends with the painful thought of having to wait until next Sunday to see what happens next.

But that won’t be the case for the upcoming Episode 5, as Super Bowl Sunday brings major changes to the show’s release schedule.

On Sunday, February 12, the long-awaited NFL Super Bowl LVII will take place between AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs and their NFC counterparts Philadelphia Eagles. The annual Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year in the United States, and it’s expected to bring over a ton of eyeballs, as last year’s matchup brought in over 200 million viewers.

With so many people focusing on the game, it will be hard for many of them to follow the events of The Last of Us Episode 5, when it arrives at 9 PM ET on HBO. Hence why, the series will debut the upcoming episode two days early on Friday, February 10 at 9 PM ET on HBO Max.

We have reached out to Disney+ Hotstar on whether the change will also affect the episode’s release on the platform. Usually, new episodes of the series release at 8:30 AM on Monday, which is an hour after the show debuts on HBO.
