The iconic Casa Bonita fountain is gone, but not for long
The creators of “South Park” couldn’t have written it better themselves.
Casa Bonita’s fountain has disappeared from outside the Lakewood “eatertainment” spot, leaving fans who are waiting impatiently for the destination to reopen without a complete backdrop for their photo ops.
Following safety concerns from a crumbling foundation, the water feature has been razed but will be rebuilt, according to the City of Lakewood Planning Department.
A representative for the Lakewood office said the city expects to receive plans soon for a new fountain structure to be built.

Casa Bonita, the restaurant purchased by the creators of South Park in 2021, is currently undergoing renovations in Lakewood, Colorado on Thursday, June 16.
Meantime, the pink palace’s towering facade is still intact as construction continues in and around the shopping center where Casa Bonita has sat closed since the start of the pandemic.
They are working with Denver chef Dana Rodriguez on the Casa Bonita revamp.
When it reopens, the restaurant should serve more scratch-made menu items and offer updated versions of the entertainment that generations of visitors have come to fear and also love — from cliff divers to mariachi bands to gorilla suits.
