Some skincare buys are all hype, while others surpass our expectations – and one facial product that delivers on its promise is the legendary Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial.
Loved by beauty editors, shoppers and even our very own Mel Evans (who recently roadtested the product herself) – this wonder product uses a blend of 25% AHA and 2% BHA, glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric and salicylic acids to deliver a glowy complexion after just one use.
It’s a potent formula, but one of the best things about Drunk Elephant’s Babyfacial is that it is crafted at an apparently ideal pH of 3.5, to tone down the redness and sensitivity associated with heavy-duty chemical exfoliators.
It’s no surprise that the product has a legion of celebrity fans, with Drew Barrymore posting about the product on Instagram.
‘I see such instant results from this product. The packaging is fun and pretty,’ she said while showing the product on Instagram.
‘Babyfacial mask literally looks like you are a baby by the time it’s done.’
So what do the reviews say about Drunk Elephant’s TLC Sakuri Babyfacial? That is definitely ‘so worth the hype’, for one.
The Drunk Elephant Babyfacial reviews
‘This product – in combination with the rest of the brand’s line – has transformed my face over the last two years. I use it religiously and absolutely love how soft and refreshed it leaves my face. So worth all the hype and there’s so much more in these bottles than you’d expect!’ wrote one shopper.
While another said: ‘I bought this a couple of months ago and have been using it once a week. I took a break from my other active ingredients and started at 5 minutes with the mask, slowly adding time each week.
‘I love how bright and nice my skin has been looking. Remember if you use something like this you should wear spf everyday including weeks afterwards. Very happy to have this in my routine :).’
And a third wrote: ‘I was surprised at how well this product worked! When I first took it out my face looked like a tomato however the next morning all the unevenness of my skin tones was clear!’
But while there are many glowing reviews online, some did note that the cult skincare buy can be too much for sensitive skin types.
Some shoppers commented on how the product can ‘sting’ on application, meaning it might be too much for some users.
One wrote: ‘I’ve been using the Sukari facial with the recommended frequency, and it is simply too strong for my face. I’ve tried using it exclusively in the less sensitive areas of my face, but it still feels like too much. I have experienced the best results with the F Balm, so I will continue to use that, but I won’t buy this one again. I can tell that it’s a decent product, it’s just too strong for me which is why I gave it a 2 out of 5.’
‘I look forward to using this product bc the results are amazing. It does sting for approximately 60 seconds, but it works wonders,’ wrote another shopper.
Another warned others that the product is ‘very strong’ so should be ‘used with caution’, writing: ‘Used this a few years ago when it came out. Followed the instructions back at the time but it burned my skin to the right side of my mouth. Have been dealing with flareups of contact dermatitis ever since. Use with caution because it’s very strong.’
But not all users with sensitive skin found the product too abrasive, as one noted: ‘My sensitive skin loves drunk elephant. I use the marula oil and babyfacial and am obsessed with both.’
We suppose, as with all new skincare products, it’s wise to be careful when introducing something potent to your routine.
