The free Netflix rival you’ve probably never heard of with hit dramas and shows
SUBSCRIBING to all the streaming services doesn’t come cheap.
So it’s good to know there are some lesser-known free options out there if you want to save money.
One such option some may not realise exists is UKTV Play.
The free service is home to shows from W, Dave, Yesterday and Drama.
It includes a whole bunch of classic soaps, comedy, documentaries, drama and entertainment.
Latest additions include Berlin Station, The Wrong Mans, Sandylands and Secrets of the London Underground.
But there’s also classic episodes from EastEnders, The Bill, Casualty and Holby City.
In comedy, there’s Birds of a Feather, Red Dwarf and Dave exclusive Meet the Richardsons.
You can also watch the four channels live too.
UKTV Play is available as an app on smart TVs, iOS and Android devices or online.
Free channels on your TV
If you have Freeview there are a bunch of other hidden channels you may not know about too.
Some of the channels are niche interest but others you’ve probably heard of.
These include music channels Now 70s and Now 80s, as well as news and special interest sports channels from across the world.
Most are offered through free portal channels on Freeview.
For example, Channelbox on channel 271 claims to offer more than 70 free channels alone.
And on number 261 you’ll find Vision TV with 35 channels, including shows in non-English languages.
Other choices are available as standalone streamed options also in the high 200s, so have a browse around on your box.
Some channels may take a moment to load, so don’t switch off if you see a blank screen.
