The Flash shocks with two unexpected A-list cameos

The Flash has pulled a blinder with two Hollywood stars making surprising cameos.

The DC film, which releases in UK cinemas on June 16, sees controversial actor Ezra Miller take centre stage as the titular superhero.

Following the comic book Flashpoint, the movie sees Barry Allen, aka The Flash use his ability to run at the speed of light to travel back to the past and save his parents from dying.

However, his actions splinter into multiple timelines – and versions of himself – leaving Barry to fix a monumental mess when he returns to the future.

Ezra, who appeared at their first red carpet event since being involved in a string of controversies in the US earlier this week, stars alongside Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, who both reprise their role as Batman.

But that’s not all… so be warned as there are major spoilers below.

As typical in the DC franchise, the film was chock full of surprises, including a scene that reintroduced George Clooney as Bruce Wayne. Yes, really.

In a minute-long clip, George’s Bruce steps out of Batman’s signature Mercedes prompting a stumped Barry Allen to ask: ‘Who the f*** is this?’

‘You’re not Batman,’ Barry continues, with Wayne simply replying: ‘What’s wrong with you?’

George has previously been pretty vocal about his less than popular portrayal of Batman in the past, admitting in 2021 that he ‘f**ked up so bad’.

The actor famously played the Caped Crusader in the 1997 film Batman and Robin, with his portrayal not going down too well with fans.

George Clooney as Batman

‘I did one superhero movie and I f**ked it up so bad they won’t let me near the set,’ George told People during a screening for The Tender Bar.

At the time, he was also asked why he wasn’t involved in The Flash, and surprise surprise, he remained extremely coy.

Not going into the details of whether he was even asked to reprise his role, he joked to Variety: ‘When you destroy a franchise the way I did…’

Well, it all makes sense now.

Of course, George’s surprise appearance in The Flash wasn’t the only unexpected cameo in the film, with Nicolas Cage also cropping up as Superman… albeit in CGI form.

Nic has been a huge fan of Superman for years, having previously starred in Tim Burton’s failed Superman Lives over two decades ago.

In the sequence, audiences saw his Superman face off against a monster.

Fans were totally speechless by the move.

‘George Clooney Batman,’ one wrote. ‘They went all out. Nic Cage Superman. Just wow.’

‘CGI Nic Cage Superman cameo is unreal,’ another said, while a third added: ‘Nic Cage is unironically my favourite cameo in The Flash but I know the General Audience is going to laugh their ass off not knowing the context.’

The Flash is out in UK cinemas on Friday, June 16.
