The Flash: Grant Gustin Is Open to the Idea of Playing a Different Superhero
Grant Gustin, who portrayed The Flash in CW’s TV series, has opened up on the possibility of future superhero roles for him. The Flash TV show recently had its final episode, a series that has been around for nine seasons. Gustin said he does not feel any form of superhero fatigue in terms of playing a superhero, and would love to take on the role of not just The Flash in the future but also a different character with superpowers. He said that as long as it is a character he is excited about, he will be willing to take on that mantle.
The Flash Season 9 will not only end the series but also the Arrowverse which started with Stephen Amell’s portrayal of the Green Arrow. Grant Gustin is officially the actor to have played DC’s speedster for the longest period of time as well.
Gustin: ‘I love superhero stuff’
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gustin said, “I’m not going to say I’m hanging it up for good. I have no idea what the future holds. And not even Flash-related — so many people would ask what I wanted to do when this chapter was over, and how I probably wouldn’t want to do superhero things again, but no, I grew up a fan of this genre… I love this genre, I love sci-fi stuff, I love superhero stuff.”
Gustin added that he loves the superhero and sci-fi genre, so he will be “open to doing any superhero thing again, Flash or something else, as long as it was a character I was excited about. I would honestly love for someone to call me about some Flash-related thing at some point down the line.”
Fans have already been wondering if we will ever get to see Gustin as The Flash again, now that the Arrowverse is also ending. James Gunn is also resetting the DCU with The Flash movie coming in June. Maybe there is a Gustin cameo somewhere in the movie, or perhaps a role for Gustin in the new DC universe.
