The Elder Scrolls VI Is Targeting a 2026 Release Date, Microsoft Reveals

The Elder Scrolls VI may not be as far from release as many expect, as the game is apparently releasing in just three years, according to new information revealed during the FTC v. Microsoft trial.

As reported by DSOGaming, Microsoft’s lawyer revealed that the sixth entry in the series is targeting a 2026 release date, which sounds a little unreasonable, considering it was previously said the game is at least five years away from now. As Bethesda is still working on Starfield, which is launching in a little over two months, development of The Elder Scrolls VI is hardly in full swing now, so it will be interesting to see if Microsoft is really expecting the game to be out in three years, or if release date target was thrown out for some obscure reason. Rumors from last year did talk about a 2025, 2026 release window, so there may be some truth in the Microsoft lawyer’s statement.

As developing massive open-world role-playing games is taking longer and longer, and are also getting supported for much longer, Todd Howard feels that The Elder Scrolls VI will be his last one, as he revealed earlier this month. Not a surprising thought in any capacity, but if the next entry in the series ends up being his last game, it is undeniable that future Bethesda games will change quite a bit since Todd Howard has been with the company since 1994.

The Elder Scrolls VI is currently in development and will release on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
