The cheapest flights to Spain in August
Whether it’s a beach holiday or a city break, Spain is the ideal destination. I used Skyscanner to look for the cheapest hotspots to fly to in August.
Malaga
British tourists can get direct return flights to Malaga for under £100 from Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newquay, Exeter, London and Edinburgh. Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool all had options available for under £130.
Malaga is the heart of Spain’s Andalucia province and boasts some of the warmest temperatures in the country. While tourists could enjoy a city break in Malaga itself, the airport is also the gateway to some of the Costa del Sol’s most popular resorts.
Fuengirola and Estepona are both top beach resorts where it’s possible to find cheap accommodation options.
In Malaga itself, the Cathedral, Alcazaba fortress and Picasso Museum shouldn’t be missed.

Palma
Britons could fly to Palma, the capital of Majorca, for under £100 return from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle in August. Bristol, Nottingham, Durham, London, Manchester and Birmingham also had options for under £120 return.
Palma is the capital of Majorca, in Spain’s sunny Balearic islands, and close to some of the island’s best beaches.
However, while flights to Palma were cheap, the island is one of Spain’s more expensive holiday destinations. Tourists will also need to pay a tourist tax in Majorca.
Despite this, there are still bargains to be found in Palma Nova although this area is known for its raucous nightlife.
Santiago de Compostela
British tourists can fly to Santiago de Compostela with direct return flights for under £115 from Edinburgh and London.
The charming Spanish city marks the finish line of the famous Camino de Santiago, one of Europe’s most popular pilgrimage routes.
While the weather isn’t as reliable as in southern Spain, the beaches near Santiago are some of the country’s most beautiful.
Tourists are also likely to find far fewer crowds in the captivating region and should try the region’s famous octopus dish, ‘pulpo a la gallega’.

Barcelona
Direct flights to Barcelona are on offer for under £100 from Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester and Liverpool in August.
The Spanish city is one of Spain’s top tourist destinations and is packed with activities for the whole family.
Tourists can explore some of Gaudi’s most breathtaking masterpieces, sample delicacies at La Boqueria or hit El Corte Ingles for some shopping.
Although the city can be pricey in summer, there are a few great travel hacks that can help keep prices low.
