The Chase’s Darragh Ennis ‘will never live down’ his ‘stupidest’ Beat The Chasers error

Ahead of the highly-anticipated new series of Beat The Chasers, quizzer Darragh Ennis, 40, gave us a little insight into some of the hilarious moments he and the rest of the genius team had on the show. But with the programme yet to air, he didn’t want to give too much away.

Speaking to ITV, he teased: “You may see one of us doing a little dance at one point, but you’ll have to tune in to find out who!”

Of himself, he added: “Also I said probably the stupidest thing ever at one point, which I will never live down.”

But while Darragh attempted to be coy about his error, his co-star Jenny Ryan may have given it away…

When asked the same question about funny moments during series four, she said: “Shaun’s celebrity impersonations get an airing.

“Darragh confuses cats and apes…”

Looks like he may have been rumbled!

The Irish TV personality, who joined his teammates Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny in 2020, summed up the new series as an “atmospheric cauldron of high drama” with even higher stakes.

“It was brilliant having the audience back,” he smiled, referring to the effects Covid had on mass gatherings for production.

“It created a fabulous atmosphere in the studio.”

Noting there were a lot of brilliant moments, he revealed some games came down to the very last second.

“We also do a practice quiz a few days before filming to sharpen up.”

While viewers may think the quizzers know everything about, well, quite literally anything, in order to come out on top they still have some key tactics they stick to.

“The main one is think then buzz, once you buzz you should be able to answer straight away,” the 40-year-old continued.

“The other thing is that we all have our specialities and you don’t jump in on someone else’s specialist subject.

“Unless you’re 100% sure you know the answer!”

Despite it all being fun and games with the brain-boxes altogether again, Darragh admitted the “hardest challenge” for the contestants: “The pressure is a lot less for the Chasers in this show,” he explained honestly.

“You’re not on your own so if you’re not sure of an answer someone else will probably step in and get it.

“The offers can get very high, but that doesn’t bother me.”

He added cheeky: “Mostly because it’s not my money though!”

Series four of Beat The Chasers starts Saturday 11th September 8.30pm ITV.
