The Chase’s Darragh Ennis in brutal reply to viewer over prioritising BBC rival Pointless
The Chase star Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis responded to a Twitter user’s remarks as he shared a trailer for the programme online. The quizzer, who enjoys a following of more than 18,000, had initially taken to the social media platform to celebrate a contestant’s win.
According to the video, 20-year-old Eden had achieved the “highest single player win on The Chase ever”.
In the tweet, Ennis announced: “#TheChase great and well deserved win for Eden.”
The show, which has become a British daytime TV staple with a 12-year run, airs on weekdays at 5pm.
However, this means the show is forced to compete with fellow quiz veteran and rival Pointless, which airs weekdays on BBC One at 5.15pm.
“Problem solved.”
The game show fan then added: “I run quiz teams, they all watch both.
“Best is to avoid Twitter until 7pm.”
But the Chaser then agreed, adding: “Probably. Especially with an episode like today.”
Last night’s episode of The Chase made history after Eden, who was the last contestant standing, managed to make it through to the final on his own.
Darragh was left surprised as the contestant answered the majority of the questions correctly.
He then had two minutes to answer 18 questions correctly.
As the round came to an end, Darragh had 12 seconds remaining and five questions to answer correctly.
But Eden managed to defeat him and bag a staggering £75,000.
The Chase host Bradley Walsh made his excitement clear as he announced that the game had come to an end.
“Time is up,” he said as he gave Eden a hug. “I can’t believe it, £75,000.”
The TV personality repeated: “£75,000 at 20 years of age, who is your best mate?”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
