We could all probably do with an escape right now – whether you’re after a day out, a weekend away or even a luxury beach holiday.
There’s something for everyone this week, whatever your budget, from breaks for beginner skiers to doggy delights.
Below, we take a look at some of the top picks of the week.
Ski-able for all
If you enjoy skiing, think about helping someone who wouldn’t normally find it as easy – or be able to try. Iglu Ski has partnered with the adaptive snowsport charity Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) to raise funds to help disabled children and adults to be more active, make friends and have fun.
Established over 40 years ago, DSUK offers inclusive skiing and snowboarding for everyone regardless of disability, injury or experience. It provides expert teaching across the UK, and holidays and activities worldwide, and supports social and recreational skiing groups.
Beyond the big city
They say that when a man – or a woman – is tired of London, he or she is tired of life. But what if all you needed was a break from it? Pretty Little London Trips, from the duo behind the @prettylittlelondon Insta account, is a finely curated guide to highly ’grammable weekend escapes from the capital, and all within easy reach. The book is divided into three sections: city and town (including Windsor), coast and country, and each place comes with recommendations for the best places to eat, drink, sleep and shop, alongside cultural highlights.

Let’s dance
Get those glow sticks out – Butlin’s Big Weekenders are back, baby! This year sees 16 different themed breaks, from Absolute 80s to 90s Reloaded, We Love Ibiza and even Back To The 2000s (remember them?). It’s also introduced a We Call It Dance break in Skegness, which will welcome some of the biggest names in dance music – including Pendulum, Charlie Hedges and Nathan Dawe – for three nights of garage, drum and bass, and more. There will also be some big-name artists performing throughout the year for the first time, including Tom Zanetti, Route 94, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Doggy days out
The National Trust has partnered with Forthglade, a natural pet food, to improve facilities at their locations to give every dog (and owner) a great day out. From coast and countryside to nature reserves and parklands, you’ll find dog-washing areas and drinking stations, increased waste bins and downloadable walks.
The initiative is supported by adventurer Simon Reeve, who says, ‘Providing information about access at all Trust places is a win-win for everyone.’ Every venue will carry a ‘pawprint rating’ on its webpage – three paws is the best – and you’ll find it at places such as Corfe Castle in Dorset and Fell Foot in Cumbria.
