With colder and shorter days, finding the motivation to put your trainers on and get out for a run can be tricky.
But if there’s one thing that can get us off the sofa and put a spring in our step, it’s a new outfit.
We wouldn’t recommend running when it’s actually dark, but even as the sun starts to set (or rise), visibility can be low, and it’s important to make sure you’re seen.
Christian Allen, product expert at Runner’s Need, told Metro.co.uk: ‘You need to do all you can to make sure you’re seen – particularly on roads. It is vital you invest in some high visibility pieces.’
Chris also warns that planning is key.
He says: ‘Understanding where you’re running is essential to staying safe – particularly when it’s dark.
‘When building a route, you need to be aware of any areas which may be poorly lit, have reduced pedestrian access, or even have bumps and obstacles on the ground such as uneven pavement, tree roots or loose drain coverings that may easily trip you up when visibility is low.’
