And one holidaymaker has shared the £8 per night campsite he pitched his tent at on a recent trip to the Lake District.

TikTok user (@joereed9678) posted a video all about his holiday in the north of England.

A caption over the video read: “£8 a night camping in the lake district. There’s no booking required, and there are some wild swimming spots just a few minutes walk away.”

The footage shows a tent pitched in a grassy field with a small stream running over a bed of rocks.

In the background, users could see a sunset over the hills.

The video has had over 1.5 million views on the social media platform with users rushing in the comments.

Several people wanted to keep the campsite to themselves.

One person wrote: “Ssh, don’t tell everyone!”

While another added: “And, it’s ruined.”

Plenty of other people were impressed by everything the cheap campsite had to offer.

Someone said: “It’s such a brilliant campsite, with phenomenal walks, and beautiful views.”

And, another wrote: “I hate camping, but this sounds so fun.”

The campsite causing all the fuss is Stonethwaite Farm in the Lake District National Park.

There’s enough space to pitch 60 tents, and there are several facilities on site including cold running water, toilets, a place to wash pots, and a waste disposal system.

Holidaymakers will be able to reach the campsite down a narrow track, which has enough space for small campervans.

Fires are not allowed on the campsite but barbeques are permitted.

Galleney Force Waterfall is just a five-minute walk from the campsite, and there are plenty of other wild swimming spots nearby like Black Moss Pot and Greenup Gill.

The market town of Keswick is just 6 miles away and is home to a wide variety of outdoor, camping and walking shops.

Other activities include the King Kong Climbing Centre where holidaymakers can go indoor climbing, caving, and bouldering.

There’s also a cinema, a park, and a leisure centre.
