Texans’ Brandin Cooks unhappy with trade deadline result: ‘Covered for the lies’

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks thought he would be on a new team after Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.

However, the Texans chose to not deal the 29-year-old, a decision Cooks is seemingly less than thrilled about. He took to just a few minutes after the 4 p.m. ET deadline to voice his frustration.

“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted,” the disgruntled receiver wrote on Twitter. “Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career.”

It was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the Texans discussed possible deals involving Cooks, but that “nothing came of it.” Cooks and his fully guaranteed salary of $18 million for the 2023 season certainly made finding a trade partner more difficult.

Which means that for now Cooks will remain with the rebuilding Texans, who are just 1-5-1 this season.

Cooks has just 32 catches and one touchdown this season, and though he leads the team in yards and receptions his 50.6 yards per game is the second-lowest average of his career.
