Tesla recalls more than one million vehicles over window injury fears

TESLA has recalled over one million U.S. vehicles over fears the automatics windows will not stop immediately when they detect an obstruction – such as a motorists fingers or even their neck.

The electric car manufacturer is concerned the window software in the recalled vehicles may apply excessive force when it comes across an obstruction, risking injury to drivers and passengers.

Tesla say it isn’t aware of any injuries or deaths related to the software so far.

It also has no reports of warranty claims, field reports, or crashes, according to Reuters.

Tesla’s recall applies to certain 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles, U.S. News reports.

You won’t have to bring your vehicle to a Tesla-authorized Service Center to remedy this window defect.

Tesla said they’ll provide an online update to fix their window software.

You can check on new software updates for your Tesla by opening the ‘Software’ tab on your vehicle’s touchscreen.

You’ll see a notification on your Tesla’s center touchscreen display if an update’s available.

Tesla owners can download an update immediately or schedule the update’s installation for later.

Connecting your Tesla to wifi will reduce the time it takes for a software update to install.

Tesla owners can set their software preferences from STANDARD to ADVANCED to get updates as soon as they’re available.

Move into ADVANCED software update mode by tapping Controls, Software, and Software Update Preferences on your Tesla’s touch display before pressing ADVANCED.

Drivers must have software update 2019.16 or later to alter their software preferences, according to Tesla’s website.
