Two of the stars of Ten Percent, the UK version of the French TV show Call My Agent, have revealed the unusual object guest star Helena Bonham Carter brought to set while filming her cameo.

Today, the British comedy-drama launches on Amazon Prime Video, boasting a star-studded cast including Jack Davenport, Lydia Leonard and Jim Broadbent to tell the story of a talent agency in London that ends up in disarray when the company’s founder dies.

Given it’s a series about talent agents in the entertainment industry, the programme features cameos from several well-known individuals playing themselves, including Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor, Line of Duty’s Kelly Macdonald, and The Crown stars Dominic West and Emma Corrin.

During a recent conversation with Metro.co.uk, Rebecca Humphries and Maggie Steed – who portray assistant Julia and agent Stella respectively – opened up about what it was like to work alongside Helena, who stars in an episode opposite acting peer Olivia Williams.

Emphasising that all the guest stars were ‘wonderful’, Maggie described the Alice in Wonderland actor as a ‘dream’.

‘She walked around with a little wooden gardening box. I said, “What’s that?” She said, “It’s my medicine cabinet,”’ Maggie recalled.

‘In it she had little bottles of vitamin C and ginger, turmeric and ginger, all sorts of things that give you instant energy. She taught me so much.’

The Ten Percent star explained that often, actors sit around film sets ‘for hours and hours’, before they’re suddenly asked to spring into action to perform their scenes.

‘Suddenly you are asked to go through this experience where you’re Hecuba, you’ve lost all your children in the Trojan war, and you’ve been sitting around for five hours. And she said, “And a little shot of that will do the trick.” That was the best thing anyone’s ever given me,’ she stated.

Rebecca remarked that she found Helena’s medicine box ‘amazing’, before Maggie revealed another unexpected and hilarious object the Harry Potter star would carry around.

‘She also carries, she carries around some little… this is really, I don’t know if I should say this…’ she began.

‘These little printed cards, because you want really to be sitting somewhere quietly and you don’t want people shouting in your ear all the time about you know the score from Tottenham or anything. She hands a card out and all it says is, “Quiet please.”’

Cards handed out to people asking if they could please be quiet? Legendary behaviour, in our books.

Maggie dubbed the cards ‘so funny’ and ‘so polite’, while Rebecca said they were ‘so chic’.

As well as cameos from actors playing clients of the talent agency, Ten Percent also features guest starring roles from other famous faces in different capacities.

In the very episode, TV presenter Lorraine Kelly put her acting experience to good use by starring as herself, three years after claiming that she was adopting a persona when she appeared on her eponymous ITV show every morning.

Ten Percent is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
