Teen star stuns with WBBL hat-trick
Teenage fast bowler Darcie Brown became just the sixth player in WBBL history to claim a hat-trick when she achieved the feat against the Brisbane Heat on Sunday.
The 18-year-old Adelaide star got Heat batters Georgia Redmayne, Ellie Johnston, and Laura Kimmince out in three consecutive balls to tear through the opposition’s top order. All three wickets were caught.
Brown has already represented Australia in all three formats of the game and has proven to be one of the country’s brightest young bowlers.
It left the Heat reeling, who went from 1-57 to 4-57 in the space of three deliveries.

The game had been reduced to innings of only 11 overs, after wet weather delayed the start of the match.
Brisbane finished on 5-104. Brown’s final figures were 3-28 off three overs.
The Strikers then produced a thrilling chase but ended up needing seven runs off the last ball of the match, and the Heat won by five runs.
Brown joins an elite group of WBBL players to have achieved a hat-trick.
The others are Nicole Bolton (2015), Gemma Triscari (2016), Amy Satterthwaite (2017), Dane van Niekerkvs (2017), and Marizanne Kapp (2019).
