Teen Socceroo snares pre-World Cup screamer
Socceroos young gun Garang Kuol has signed off from club duties in the best possible way, lashing a stunning goal from an absurdly tight angle.
The 18-year-old brought down a cross from Jacob Farrell brilliantly, before picking his spot and smashing the ball beyond Nick Suman in goal.
“He’s such a talent, they can’t believe it, I’m not sure we can either,” Simon Hill said in commentary.

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Kuol, who turned 18, made his first appearance for the Socceroos, was selected in Graham Arnold’s World Cup squad and secured a transfer to English Premier League side Newcastle United.
“You are watching something very, very special emerging on the Central Coast of New South Wales,” Hill added after the brilliant goal.
“He’s not going to be there for long, watch out world, Garang’s coming!”
After Brian Kaltak was sent off in the first half, the home side fell 2-0 behind thanks to a Jonathan Aspropotamitis goal – only to mount a spirited comeback.
Kuol’s Socceroos teammate Jason Cummings had a penalty saved just after the hour mark, only for the Mariners to get a second spot kick three minutes later. Kuol duly obliged, before that incredible second goal made it 2-2 with 20 minutes to go.
Unfortunately for the Mariners, they pushed up field in search of a stoppage-time winner, only for a swift counter attack from Macarthur resulting in Jed Drew slotting home at the other end.
Kuol wasn’t the only Aussie to bag a screamer, with midfielder Riley McGree adding another to his highlight reel.
The 24-year-old, who famously scored that glorious scorpion kick for the Newcastle Jets, produced a long-range scissor kick for Middlesbrough to level the scores against Champonship high flyers Norwich.

To make the moment even sweeter, Boro would go on to bag an injury-time winner.
“It’s a special time for him and to score a goal like that in any moment in your career is certainly one you’ll remember,” coach Michael Carrick said.
The goal was sublime, the midfielder meeting a bouncing ball and finding the top corner with a bicycle kick.
“It was one of them where the ground falls silent for a second because everyone has almost taken a deep breath to appreciate what they’ve witnessed.
“It was a hell of a goal.”
