Ted Kravitz stopped by security after threatening to leak Brad Pitt movie setup

Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz received a telling-off as he tried to gain a sneak peek into the set of Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula One-themed movie at the British Grand Prix. The US actor has been present at Silverstone this weekend to take part in filming for the project, which remains untitled as of yet and involves Lewis Hamilton as an executive producer.

Kravitz was wandering through the paddock after qualifying on Saturday as part of his live Ted’s Notebook show before stumbling upon the fictional garage used by Apex Racing, the team Pitt will drive for in the upcoming movie. He then jokingly instructed his camera operator to peek through a curtain that was being used to keep the production’s storage facility from public view.

The pair were quickly approached by two members of staff, who told them to move along before they could get a glimpse behind the scenes. Kravitz began to reason with the security staff as they positioned themselves in front of the curtain, saying: “He didn’t do it! I told him not to do it and he didn’t do it.”

Kravitz and his camera operator quickly left the scene as he continued: “We didn’t do it. We’re absolutely in the clear.” He then turned to the man behind the camera and joked: “You are naughty, aren’t you?”

The film has seen the fictional Apex Racing team given a strong presence in the Silverstone paddock this weekend, with the production using modified Formula Two cars which have been tweaked to look like their F1 counterparts. The cars will be present at the back of the grid prior to the start of Sunday’s race, while they will also complete part of the formation lap before peeling off.

Pitt and co-star Damson Idris will also drive the cars for some additional sequences in the coming months and have been undertaking driving courses at Silverstone and Circuit Paul Ricard as of late. Mercedes have offered a helping hand in modifying the F2 cars used in the film and setting up the Apex Racing garage this weekend, with Toto Wolff explaining: “We’ve been involved pretty early.

“I think when we had the first discussions, we sent Brad to a driving school in France, going through the formula cars from F4 all the way up. We tried to be helpful with the narrative. Lewis is an executive producer, so he wanted to make sure when the movie comes out it’s as realistic as possible.

“We had a few laughs but I think it’s a very good narrative, and the effort they’ve put in, we helped them. It was Fred [Vasseur’s] idea, I think, to use an F2 car and build the bodywork around it that looks like an F1 car.

“Then the garages and the pit wall, all of it, we tried to be helpful and give them the designs so they could be as realistic as possible. And then you see now, that is such an effort. When you go in the garage and the whole set-up they have behind it, really unbelievable.”
