Taylor Swift gives middle finger to ‘decimated’ Jake Gyllenhaal in video, fans say
I bet you Jake Gyllenhaal is still thinking about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, at least that’s what fans are thinking.
Since the infamous red knit scarf appeared in “I Bet You Think About Me,” it’s hinted that her latest breakup ballad is about her 40-year-old ex-boyfriend, who is alleged to have never given Swift back her neckwear after the couple broke up in 2010.
Though, the real red dagger suspected to target Gyllenhaal was Swift’s releasing a 10-minute short film version of her 2012 icon “All Too Well” last Friday.
And the onslaught continues in Swift’s latest video, which features a few key hints that it’s all about the “Nightcrawler” actor. The 31-year-old singer shares a dreamy slow dance with pretend former lover Miles Teller, 34, during fantasized nuptials in her latest music video “I Bet You Think About Me.”
That song is one of several newly rerecorded “Taylor” versions of tracks from the singer’s “Red” era of 2012, which came about following an ongoing dispute with her management.
Out today, “I Bet You Think About Me” is a “From the Vault” track which actually didn’t make Swift’s original “Red” recording, so, naturally, she made up for lost time with the long-awaited music video.
Directed by close friend Blake Lively, 34, the video depicts an all-red-wearing Swift crash Teller’s wedding, eating handfuls of a red velvet cake, messing around with guests and distracting Teller from his bride to be — the “War Dogs” actor’s actual wife and model Keleigh Sperry Teller, 29.
“I will never forget the first time that I met you, I thought ‘Wowza!’ That is the most beautiful girl in the world. You had the sweetest eyes and the softest smile,” Teller, who reportedly shut down filming of “The Offer” with a COVID outbreak last summer, reads in an opening monologue before being drowned out by lyrics.
As the video and Taylor’s antics go on, Teller eventually sees Swift as his own bride and the two enjoy an enchanted slow dance like that of Jack and Rose in the finale of “Titanic” before Taylor walks away, trading her former man for a red acoustic guitar.
As the melody ensues, the all-white wedding turns red and all in attendance begin to dance along to Swift when it’s revealed to just be a figment of Teller’s imagination as he spaces out thinking about Swift over his own wife before they get married.
Fans had a field day reacting on Twitter to the video, with one saying “RIP to Jake Gyllenhaal you had a good run bud.” A second fan wrote: “She DECIMATED Jake Gyllenhaal. AAAHHHHHHH.”
Despite the Twitter roast, the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” actor “seemed unfazed by all the resurfaced attention on his former relationship with Swift,” according to Page Six, who spotted Gyllenhaal at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles that night.
