Taco Bell says it will bring back Mexican Pizza after halting sales
Mexican Pizza is back!
Taco Bell announced that the fan favorite will be returning to its regular menu starting next month.
The Yum! Brands-owned chain said it was bringing back Mexican Pizza after demand for the product surged in the days and weeks that followed its announcement from three months ago that it was halting sales.
Visitors to Taco Bell will be able to buy Mexican Pizza beginning on Sep. 15, the company announced.
The chain brought back Mexican Pizza in May after a two-year absence, but demand was so overwhelming that within days of the relaunch it completely ran out.
Taco Bell said on Tuesday that it “worked quickly to restock the beloved menu item.”

“Taco Bell worked diligently to resolve depleted ingredients and supply chain challenges that originally caused longer gaps in the product’s availability,” the chain said.
The Mexican Pizza is made up of a flat tortilla that is covered with pizza sauce and beans or ground beef.
Another layer of tortilla is pressed on top before it is smothered in even more pizza sauce as well as a combination of cheese and chopped tomatoes.
The item was originally introduced in 1985 under the name “Pizzazz Pizza,” but was later re-branded as “Mexican Pizza.”
The relaunch of Mexican Pizza earlier this year prompted conspiracy theories to speculate that the move was a ploy by Taco Bell to fuel demand by making it unavailable.
But the company denies this.
“While [limited time offerings] are core to Taco Bell’s ability to churn out menu innovation, that wasn’t the plan for the Mexican Pizza,” the company said.

“Upon its menu return, demand for the Mexican Pizza was seven times higher than when previously available.”
Klondike, the Unilever-owned ice cream maker, ignited nationwide disappointment last week when it announced that it was discontinuing its “Choco Taco” dessert treat — prompting speculation that it was a move designed to drum up demand for the item.
