Sunshine Cruz denies speculations her family caused passenger to be bumped from Bali flight
Sunshine Cruz clarified that she and her family bought their flight tickets to Bali, Indonesia, as early as March, in response to speculations that they are the “celebrity family” who caused a passenger to be bumped from her flight to Bali.
A Facebook user called out an airline in a now-deleted post, after she and her daughter were supposedly bumped from their flight because their seats were given to a “celebrity family.”
“What gives you guys the right to just bump us off without even a notice, just because a family of celebrities are on the same flight?” the netizen said. “I’ve been here at the counter for an hour and no one in [Philippine Airlines] seems to be genuinely eager to fix the mess that they created.”
The said individual further claimed she heard that one of the celebrities did not want the economy class seat, which prompted an “airline supervisor” to upgrade the seat. The Facebook user and her companion were then able to get on the same flight after two passengers “gave up their seats in exchange for free roundtrip tickets.”
Netizens then seemingly assumed that the “celebrity family” the individual was referring to was Sunshine and her daughters Angelina, Sam and Chesca as they are all currently in Bali.
“Kayo po ba ‘yung VIP daw ng PAL? Kaya may hindi nakalipad na commoner?” one @alrieldl asked through the comments section of Sunshine’s Instagram page. (Were you the supposed VIP of [Philippine Airlines] who were the reason a commoner was not able to get on her flight?)
Sunshine responded and said, “Booked and paid since [first] week of March.”
Another Instagram user that goes by the handle @herlenehipon commented, “So sila pala ‘yung ‘celebrity family’ na nag bump ng passenger sa [Philippine Airlines] to get better seats.” (So they were the celebrity family that bumped the passenger [from her flight] to get better seats.)
“Booked since first week of March,” Sunshine reiterated.
Sunshine asserted in a separate Facebook post that they did not cause anyone to be bumped from their flight, and called out the passenger who posted her experience for apparently letting the actress and her family be bashed by netizens.
“Not us! Booked and paid since first week of March,” she stated.
“My family and friends have tickets to Bali at nakasakay ka din naman pala, girl. Hinayaan mo pang i-bash at guluhin kami ng mga tao sa insidente na wala kaming kaalam-alam at kasalanan,” she continued. “Ngayong lumaki ang issue deleted na ang post mo, girl?!”
(My family and friends have tickets to Bali, and you were eventually able to get on your flight, girl. You let the public bash and blame us for the incident that we know nothing of and that we are not responsible for. Then now that the issue has escalated, you deleted your post?)
Sunshine also responded to some netizens and pointed out that being dragged in the issue is “not fair” for her and her daughters. She noted as well that even if they are public figures, they need to “defend [themselves] from lies.”
Sunshine and her daughters have been enjoying their vacation in Bali together with fellow celebrities Ruffa Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez and Bubbles Paraiso, among others. /ra
