Stunning UK beach named one of the best in the world – here’s the full top 50
You’ll have to travel to the other side of the world if you want to get to the world’s best beach.
Lucky Bay in Australia is said to be the most coveted beach destination, given it’s clear sands, turquoise waters, and a resident kangaroo population.
The UK, unsurprisingly, has only one mention on the top 50 list curated by Banana Boat, and it’s in Scotland.
The Beach at Achmelvich in the Scottish Highlands is much-loved for its water sports and coastal hiking. But wrap up warm if you add it to your travel bucket list. This is Britain, after all.
The list has been designed taking into account natural beauty, space, popularity, activities to do on the beach, and how rough the sea is.
Regular travellers have been impressed with the top spot, as one person wrote on Tripadvisor: ‘Lucky Bay didn’t disappoint. We drove onto the beach and sat watching the 180 degree view of tranquillity.’
But it’s not just Australia that’s worth visiting, as beaches in the Philippines, Iceland, Italy and California – to name a few – also make the list.
Anse Source D’Argent, in the Seychelles, came second.
‘Trust us, it is breath-taking, with granite boulders by the water shore and pinkish sands as a perfect contrast to the crystal clear, turquoise water,’ Banana Boat’s beach experts said.
‘This beach will genuinely make you feel as if you just stepped into a paradise painting.’
Anse Source d’Argent allows you to see the coral reef below due to its shallow waters.
