Students & Stress
The most common revision tips heard during exam season are:
– Use flashcards
– Test out different websites to get a variety of questions
– Use the recall method
-Memories of key information
– Ask for help
– Revise with a friend/group
– Avoid procrastination
However, a variety of students have seen change within themself by making changes to their behaviors and habits during exam season, and not only has their happiness benefited but also their well-being. By: planning your day, exercising regularly, eating healthily, sleeping enough hours, and planning relaxation times, you are able to keep a balance of work and well-being.
A student who has just recently completed their GCSE exams, Ife aged 15, stated “I started studying a few months before IGCSE. To prepare, I attended after-school sessions which were 2 hours long with the aim to get as much revision done in a school day. I studied for an additional two hours when I got home to reinforce any missed knowledge and practice methods such as recall and blurting. During the weekends and holidays, I studied for 6 hours daily and took regular breaks to keep a good balance. During my breaks, I exercised as it helps boost my concentration as well as reduce my stress levels. To ensure I studied efficiently when I began revising I created a study timetable which helped me allocate enough time to subjects I needed extra help with. I practiced a lot of past question papers and timed myself so I could have a feel of what the exam would be like and so I could improve my speed.”
