Students should become heritage conservationists: Intach vice-president SVS Lakshminarayana – Times of India

Amaravati: State vice president of Indian National Trust for Arts, Culture and Heritage (Intach) SVS Lakshminarayana has called upon the students to become heritage conservationists right from their childhood. He said that conservation of heritage and culture is crucial for the advancement of civilization. Intach conducted a state-level heritage quiz competition for the school children here at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on Wednesday. Teams, who reached the finals from all the six regions of intach in the state, participated, participated in the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, SVS Lakshminarayana said that Intach is conducting programmes to create awareness among the people particularly youth about the significance of conservation of heritage structure. “India is wealthiest nation in the world with regard to historical structures, heritage and culture. Younger generation should take lead to protect such structures which will showcase the country’s strength in civilization,” said Lakshminarayana.

He said that rational thinking and ability to question would help the students protect the heritage. He said that Intach is also organizing field trips and class room sessions to share more insights about the heritage and culture.
Red cross district unit vice-president and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan secretary P Ramachandra Raju said that education system needed to be changed in such a way that inculcates the culture of heritage conservation from childhood. He said that students should not confine themselves to reading their class books and scoring marks as there is big world outside the books.
He complimented the efforts of Intach in building awareness among the students with competitions. Red cross treasurer Ravi Srinivas, Sita Ramesh, Abbaraju Rajasekhar and others were present. Students from Little Wood School in Visakhapatnam clinched the title while Sri Venkateswara Balakuteer team stood as runners. Both the teams will participate in the national level quiz contest to be held in New Delhi.
