Students demand suspension of SSE-2019 additional mains – Times of India

Indore: A group of students has demanded Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission to suspend the additional mains of State Service examination-2019 after the apex court accepted their appeal.
The students in their memorandum to the commission submitted that the Supreme Court accepting their appeal against additional mains had issued notice seeking a response to it.
The court noted that the examination would be governed by the final decision in the petition, students submitted.
In case, the commission proceeds ahead with an examination and later the decision goes against it, then it would be a waste of public money, submitted to students.
“The commission had already done the same by organising the mains examination during the COVID-19 pandemic when the matter was sub-judice before MP high court”, said Akash Pathak, an aspirant, who was among those demanding suspension of examination.
“Later, as the examination was conducted under the wrong rules, the results had to be revised and it reached this stage”, added Pathak.
The mains examination was conducted in March third week of 2021. The result for the mains examination was declared in January 2022 wherein 1918 are qualified.
The commission was to hold an interview for the examination. Before it could be held, the direction from the MP high court led to a revision of the result.
The commission then in January revised the result and decided to hold special mains in April in accordance with the court direction.
MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai told TOI, “The commission has completed the preparation for holding special mains examination from April 15. It will be held as scheduled.”
On notice from the apex court, Panchbhai said, “The commission will rely on the notice to the petition.”
The MPPSC conducted prelims of the examination on January 12, 2020, wherein over three lakh candidates appeared. Around ten thousand were declared qualified for the main examination.
There is also another petition before MP high court in relation to SSE-2019 challenging this additional main examination.
