Strong demand momentum in India: Lamborghini

India was one of the fastest growing markets for super luxury carmaker Lamborghini last year and continues to exhibit strong demand momentum despite recessionary risks being seen globally, said a top official in the company.

Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director, Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific said, “Our sales in the Indian market grew by 33% last year. It is one of the top performing regional markets that recorded the most in terms of order collection on our latest Lamborghini models. We have a strong order book on back of which we can safely say we will grow again this year. We are sold out for 2023.” Lamborghini’s order book globally stands at over 18 months.

Lamborghini – which sells the Urus, Aventador and Huracan priced between Rs 3-9 crore – sold 92 vehicles in the country in 2022. The company expects to cross the three-digit mark for the first time in the ongoing calendar year. The potential for sales of super luxury cars in the country though is in the thousands given the rising number of ultra-high net-worth individuals. “India has big potential to become a big player in the Lamborghini world. Given the way the economy is growing, the population of ultra high networth individuals here, India will be one of our top markets.

The only challenge is infrastructure which is not ready uniformly across the country,” Scardaoni informed.
