Strictly’s Nikita praised for personal detail amid Tilly ‘sabotage’ claims

Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kuzmin caused a stir as he fought to stay in the competition.

The professional dancer, who joined the BBC One show this year, was in the dreaded dance-off with his celebrity partner Tilly Ramsay on Sunday night.

The social media star faced CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson and his pro partner Nancy Xu in the dance-off, where she again performed her samba to Levitating by Dua Lipa with Nikita.

But as the pair performed their routine, Nikita went one step further than he did on Saturday night and caused ‘chaos in the ballroom.

Nikita decided to rip his already open floral shirt off – which then got caught on his mic wire.

The pair continued their routine despite risk of a fall, but unhappy viewers felt he could have ‘sabotaged’ Tillys chances of getting through to the quarter final.

@Padraig_McCann tweeted: “Nikita could have sabotaged Tilly’s place in the competition with his shirt. #Strictly.”

“WTF is nikita doing, he literally ruined her chances #strictly,” @DnJ42IgQnjrw9Uk fumed.

@clairefalconer3 added: “Think Nikita ruined that for Tilly #Strictly.”

However, others were quick to praise the dancer over a personal detail.

During their final performance, fans couldn’t help notice the diabetic port at the back of Nikita’s arm after he pulled off his shirt near the end of the routine.

Some viewers spotted the white patch, which is used for people suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

And they rushed to social media to praise him.

“Was so happy to see nikita wearing a freestyle libre on #Strictly,” @joonsmouse said.

@TheNigeNigeNige added: “Wow, Nikita is type 1 diabetic? What an inspiration. #Strictly.”

“Gutted they went. But I also wear a libre sensor for diabetes and it’s nice to see it being shown by a celeb as a normal part of them,” @xgemz.83x commented.

“I’m catching up on tonight’s #strictly and I’m almost in tears seeing one of the pro dancers visibly wearing a libre monitor such a small thing but it’s so amazing to see,” @caitlinedixon shared.

But sadly Tilly and Nikita were the ninth couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing after the judges unanimously voted to save Rhys and Nancy.

Tilly’s dad Gordon was in the audience and was seen in tears as he applauded his daughter’s achievement.
