Strictly’s Janette Manrara receives ‘official diagnosis’ in pregnancy update

Janette Manrara revealed she had been struggling with her back during her pregnancy and has since been diagnosed with pelvic girdle pain.

Taking to her Instagram Stories today, the professional dancer issued a health update as she addressed her fans’ concerns.

“Happy Sunday from us,” she began as she panned the camera to her blossoming baby bump.

Janette continued: “Some of you have been asking how I’m doing. Thanks for checking in. I am feeling better today. My back is not feeling as it has been for a few days.

“I had an official diagnosis and it’s pelvic girdle pain.”

The 39-year-old shared: “Apparently it affects 20 per cent of women during pregnancy so if you felt it you know what I’m going through.

“But today I woke up better. The pregnancy pillow has moved down with me so I don’t have to keep going upstairs if I want to take a nap. I can just take a nap down here.

“But thanks for checking in. All is good. I’m doing alright. Last night was a better night so I got a bit of sleep.”

Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP) is a collection of uncomfortable symptoms caused by a stiffness of your pelvic joints or the joints moving unevenly at either the back or front of your pelvis.

Some women may feel or hear a clicking or grinding in the pelvic area and the pain can worsen when walking up and down the stairs, according to the NHS.

The Strictly It Takes Two went on to share that a new episode of her podcast, Twist and Shout, alongside her beau Aljaz, will be released tomorrow.

Janette previously told fans she was “exhausted” as she opened up about some of the symptoms she’s faced in her third trimester.

She likened her tiredness to feeling like she had been “hit by a truck” after a busy few days.

“Normally I can just go but obviously creating life takes up a lot of energy, it really does,” she told her 540,000 followers.

“And all I want to do is just be on the couch and sleep.”
