Strictly’s Janette and Aljaž pay heartfelt tribute to the late Queen

Janette, 38, shared information about today’s one-minute silence, which occurred at 8pm.

The silence was intended as a “national moment of reflection” about the Queen’s life and legacy.

Aljaž, 32, also re-posted the graphic in view of his 542,000 followers and included the heartfelt message from his wife.

The tribute read: “Although (Aljaž) and I are away during this very sad time in the United Kingdom, we will be paying our respects tonight abroad in this moment of silence honouring HM Queen Elizabeth.

“The UK is our home, and she was our Queen,” she added with a heart emoji.

Shortly before the minute’s silence observed at 8pm in the UK today, a pre-recorded tribute by Camilla, the Queen Consort, was broadcasted on the BBC.

Those taking part were invited to join in the poignant moment in their homes, in their communities or even overseas.

A service of reflection took place at 7.30pm at the Kelpies sculptures near Falkirk.

The late monarch, who served the United Kingdom for 70 years, will then be buried next to the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor in a private ceremony attended by just her family.

Buckingham Palace said she will be laid to rest during a 7.30pm service in the King George VI Memorial Chapel.

Her state funeral will be attended by more than 2,000 guests, including the heads of state of many nations.

The ceremony will end with the last post, a two-minute silence, and a lament played by the Queen’s personal piper.

An official coronation date is yet to be announced for King Charles III, but the Telegraph reported it will most likely be in spring or summer 2023, following a period of mourning.

Other stars from Strictly Come Dancing have taken to social media tonight to lament the loss of the Queen.

Former judge Arlene Phillips shared a photograph of herself with the monarch, writing: “Thinking about the Queen all day and the enormous effect it’s had on me.

“Tomorrow will be truly a day of tears and loss,” she added.
