Streaking scandal triggers All Blacks legend
The pitch invader that may well have cost Wales from scoring a crucial try in their loss to South Africa brought back painful memories for Andrew Mehrtens.
The All Blacks great described the Principality Stadium streaker as a “peanut” and the man has since been slapped with a lifetime ban at the venue after getting in the way of an attack from Wales star Liam Williams.
Speaking on Stan Sport’s Between Two Posts, Mehrtens also took aim at notorious pitch invader Daniel ‘Jarvo’ Jarvis, who has been terrorising the Autumn Nations Series after making the code switch from cricket.

Notorious pitch invader strikes again
“The more they get celebrated and lauded for doing this sort of idiocy, the more often we’re going to get this sort of thing,” Mehrtens said.
“And it stuffed Wales, it stuffed a chance for Wales and it seems like it was his own team. It’s lunacy. Security need to have a good look at themselves.”
Between Two Posts host Sean Maloney then jokingly accused Mehrtens of hypocrisy after having more enthusiasm for female pitch invaders.

The chat triggered flashbacks to a 2002 Test between Australia and New Zealand in Sydney and a legendary streaking scandal.
“I’m lining up a shot at Homebush and two blokes come out with Vodafone painted all over them,” Mehrtens said.
“I got blokes, like far out. I’m all for equality but this seemed stupid. It just seemed unfair.”

Principality Stadium has promised to take security more seriously after two pitch invaders in as many weeks.
“For more than 20 years this stadium has been revered across the world for its unique atmosphere and game day experience,” stadium manager Mark Williams said.
“It’s extremely disappointing to think that by recent events the traditional game day experience is under threat and that we might be forced to look at additional measures that will impact on the fan experience.”
