A Burger King worker has received more than £108,000 in donations from strangers after receiving a ‘depressing’ gift for working there for 27 years.

Kevin Ford, a 60-year-old Burger King employee from Nevada, has never missed a shift in his life and began working at the company as a single dad to gain custody of his first two children.

In a video posted online, viewers saw Kevin being gifted a movie ticket, a bag of candy, a coffee tumbler, lanyard and some pens as a ‘thank you’ gift for his long service.

The clip quickly went viral and people were blown away at Kevin’s dedication to his job at the Las Vegas Airport branch of the fast food business.

‘There’s people I have worked with for 20 or 30 years and they didn’t get anything. I am happy with anything,’ Kevin told NewsNationNow.

Although while Kevin was satisfied with his gift, those online were not. Many called the offering ‘depressing’ and ’embarrassing.’

One social media user commented that Kevin deserved ‘an all expense paid trip.’

In response to the reaction of strangers, Kevin’s daughter Seryna set up a GoFundMe page to give him the gift she believed he deserved.

The kindness of people was so great that 4,000 donations were made and came to a total of $133,000 (£108,000).

Kevin says he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the gift.

‘I’ve been crying for three days now. I can’t believe it. I really can’t,’ he explained.

On having never missed a day of work in his life, Kevin noted he is confused as to the reason.

‘I don’t know myself. I don’t know how i did that! Maybe I’m a robot? I just never thought about taking a day off. I just try to work as hard as I can, whatever I do,’ he explains.

Kevin’s daughter shared that he continued to work at Burger King because of the health insurance cover.

Meanwhile, the outpouring of support for Kevin had stunned the family.

‘I’m here tying to get through dinner without crying! You are such remarkable people,” Seryna shared in an update last Friday.

‘I seriously can’t believe this. Y’all are changing his life! Thank y’all! A million times over, THANK YOU!!!!’
